CSSR Submission Guidelines

The editors will consider articles or reviews in the social sciences or in the humanities that, at minimum, fulfill the following conditions: exhibition of high-quality scholarship; topical relevance to the Catholic Church’s social teaching; and compatibility with the teaching of the Church’s Magisterium. Submissions to the Articles section may not be submitted simultaneously to other publishers, and will be double-blind peer-reviewed by at least two referees. There is no fee to submit or to publish articles in the CSSR.
Authors of a symposium, article, review, or documentation piece should submit an MS Word document via e-mail to the appropriate editor:
Contributors should observe the following word limits. Submissions outside of these guidelines will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Articles should be submitted ready for blind review. The author’s name should appear nowhere in the manuscript and identifying references (such as, “As I have shown in my book…”) should be avoided. Articles must begin with an abstract consisting of approximately 100 words. Graphs and illustrations should be placed at the end of the manuscript, one to a page, with their locations and captions clearly indicated in the text of the manuscript. All such non-text items should be submitted as JPG files. The Review is interdisciplinary. Therefore, any established academic style will be accepted (APA, MLA, CMS, etc.). Contributors should strive above all to be consistent, paying particular attention to reference and endnote styles. The Review is printed annually in September. Submissions made by December 1 have the best chance of appearing in the following year’s issue. |
