In the press release linked immediately above, SCSS provides
commentary by Prof. Helen Alvare and Prof. Michael New on the flawed
social science presupposed by the recent federal Department of Health and
Human Services mandate about insurance plans.
Also, SCSS has
co-signed an Alliance Defense Fund document about the mandate with
Cardinal Newman Society, 18 colleges and universities, and Bishop Curry,
chair of the Committee for Catholic Education at the U.S. Conference of
Catholic Bishops.
CONFERENCE ON FAMILY RIGHTS
AND THE CHILD PROTECTIVE SYSTEM
The SCSS and the Catholic Social Workers National Association (CSWNA) are co-sponsoring a spring conference on April 27, 2012 on the topic of "Child Abuse, Family Rights, and the Child Protective System (CPS): Law and Public Policy in Crisis" at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
